It is an academic source because it explains new findings from an experiment conducted by a University of Iowa graduate student. I plan on using this source to explain the structure used by psychologists debriefing an experiment and its findings. This assignment is comparable to a basic research paper done in normal English courses but is more personal due to the author's connection to the subject matter. The purpose of the first assignment is to learn more about the style of writing required for the author's intended profession. The essay becomes personal to the author through the questions asked in the interview conducted with someone in the specific field being researched.  We are required to write a five-page double-spaced paper explaining the different writing styles and writing skills necessary for the specific profession. The paper must include six written sources and at least three should be academic sources and three non-academic sources are also required. This paper is a good way for students to study and understand the writing responsibilities they will have and the writing skills they will need going into their future careers.
